Murska Sobota (locally Mürska Subouta) is a city in Eastern Slovenia on Pannonian plain. In 2020, it had a population of 11,000 people, about a quarter of whom were ethnic Hungarians.

[edit]Mürska Subouta lies on Pannonian plain, which means landscape is flat. Surroundings of Mürska Subouta is stunning. The city is only Slovenian city with majority of Protestants instead of Catholics which is reason for beautiful Protestant cathedral.

- Holocaust memorial at the railway station. It is dedicated to the memory of the once-significant Jewish community of the Prekmurje region. The members of the community were arrested by the Hungarian authorities in 1944 and transported to Hungary proper and Croatia, from which they were then deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Nazi-occupied Poland.

[edit]- Watch football: NŠ Mura play soccer in PrvaLiga, the country's top tier. Their home ground is Fazanerija City Stadium, capacity 7800, one km northwest of town centre. However for the biggest games (eg Europa Conference) they play in Maribor.
