Ningming (宁明) is a county in Central Guangxi and the site of the Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

[edit]Ningming is administratively part of the city of Chongzuo. It is worth visiting Chongzuo before or after your visit to Ningming. The Chongzuo Zhuang Nationality Museum in Chongzuo maintains a permanent exhibition on the Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art Cultural Landscape.

[edit]There are two railway stations in Ningming:
- 1 Ningming East Railway Station (宁明东站), Tingliang Town (亭亮镇) (Ningming Bus 82 and Ningming Bus 88). This station is on the Nanning-Pingxiang High-Speed Railway Line. There are six trains per day from Nanning.
- 2 Ningming Railway Station (宁明站), County Highway 553 (553县道) (Chongzuo Bus 80, Ningming Bus 2 and Ningming Bus 6). This is the old railway station. It does not see many trains these days. There is just one train per day from Nanning and it arrives in the evening.
By bus
[edit]- 3 Ningming Bus Station (宁明汽车站), 190 Xingning Avenue West (兴宁大道西190号) (Chongzuo Bus 80, Ningming Bus 5, Ningming Bus 6, Ningming Bus 8, Ningming Bus 82), ☏ +86 771 8624530. Ningming County’s main central bus station. Buses arrive here from Nanning and Chongzuo, as well as some other cities in Guangxi. There are also buses from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities in the Pearl River Delta region.
If you take Chongzuo Bus 80 from outside Chongzuo International Bus Terminal, you can go directly to the scenic area without having to change buses at the Ningming Bus Station.
Get around
[edit]A free shuttle bus - officially designated as Bus no. 88 - operates between Ningming East Railway Station and the Ningming Huashan Rock Art Scenic Area.

One of the most notable examples of ancient rock paintings in Asia. The paintings were painted by the Luoyue people between the 5th century BC and the 2nd century. The paintings can be seen at 38 locations in the region but it is the Huashan (or Flower Mountain) site, which is the most famous as this is where the paintings are most clearly visible. Hence the paintings take their name from that site. Visiting the rock paintings requires taking a cruise boat. Tickets can be purchased online if you have a Chinese ID card. Otherwise, you will need to buy a ticket at the visitor center. After purchasing a ticket, you will need to go to the car park to board a bus to the wharf where the tour boats depart. Boats depart daily at 09:00, 10:30, 12:00, 13:30 and 14:30. ¥90.

[edit]The upper floor of the visitor center also has a restaurant. The restaurant mainly serves rice and noodles dishes. More restaurants can be found at the nearby hotels.
