[edit]- 1 Mount Atago.
- 2 Nobeoka Castle Ruins (延岡城跡). The ruins of Nobeoka Castle stand atop Mt. Shiroyama. The main castle walls and some foundations are all that remain, along with a recreated main castle gate. The main wall at the entrance is known as the "killer of a thousand men," because it is said that if a certain stone is removed, the wall will collapse and kill one thousand enemies. Much of the old castle grounds are now a park covered with cherry blossoms. The top of the mountain offers a wonderful view of Nobeoka and the Pacific Ocean. When you go to the top, be sure to greet the elderly caretaker who lives there.
