    Nongsa, also called Nongsapura (City of Nongsa), is a sub-district of Batam City, Riau Islands. Named after the Nongsa River, this district is famous for its beach tourism.

    Batam city is known as one of the multicultural cities in Indonesia, the plurality of society is seen in the identity of its citizens, including ethnicity and religious beliefs. The people of the Nongsa sub-district are dominated by the Malays, and some are Batak, Chinese, Minangkabau, and Javanese.
