    The Poles of Cold are the places in the southern and northern hemispheres where the lowest air temperatures have been recorded. The Northern Pole of Cold is believed to include Oymyakon and Verkhoyansk in Russia's Sakha Republic (Yakutia).

    The Poles of Inaccessibility are the furthest points from any coastline in northern (and southern) polar regions. The Arctic (or northern) pole of inaccessibility (85.8, -176.15) is located on Arctic Ocean pack ice 1,008 km (626 mi) from each of Ellesmere Island, Komsomolets, and the Genriyetta Islands.
