Oko is a town in Orumba North Local Government Area in Anambra State.
Understand
[edit]Oko has about five villages Eziabo, Ezioko, Ihengwu, Ifite and Okeani. It is one of the Igbo speaking communities in South East. The community shares boundaries with neighbouring communities like Ekwulobia, Amaokpala and Nanka.
Climate
[edit]Oko like many other towns in South Eastern Region of Nigeria has two seasonal climatic conditions, the rainy and dry season with shot spell of harmattan. The dry season start from November to March while the rainy season starts from April to October. Harmattan starts from December to January.
The impact of climate change is also affecting the climate of Oko.
Agriculture
[edit]Agriculture is a renowned practice where there is production of various farm produce: yam, cassava, plantain, maize, fruits. The people of Oko also engaged in buying and selling due to the influx of non- indigenes as a result of the Polytechnic in the community.
Get in
[edit]By air Getting into Oko community can be through plane from the nearest airport which is Chinua Achebe International Airport near Umunya.
By road By bus or other means of road transportation, one can access Oko community through Onitsha via Niger Bridge or through Awka. You can get to Oko by bus or shuttle from any part of Anambra State. If you are coming from Onitsha, take a bus going to Ekwulobia, you can stop at the newly built Solution Park at Ekwulobia, take a tricycle going to Oko community.
Get around
[edit]Moving around in Oko is usually done by tricycle, motocycle and buses. The tricycle popularly known as Keke and Motocycle popularly known as Okada have their park at strategic points within the community. Such points can be at Total market junction, in front of the gates leading into the Polytechnic.

[edit]- Sophia Foods is a popular restaurant located along Oko-Umunze road close to the popular student market called Total market.
- There are also road side food sellers at the entrance Fed. Poly. Oko first gate and opposite the main gate entrance and they offer variety of foods and snacks. They open by 8am and close by 10pm.
Drink
[edit]Ij Green Spot is located along Bumps road, they offer variety of drinks. Friday night jamz and so on.
Amanda Bush Bar is located at Bumps road. They open by 8am and close by midnight.
