    Okota is in Lagos State. Okota is an area of Lagos in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria. It is a local council development area (LCDA) under the Oshodi Local Government. Oshodi Isolo local government area is one of the twenty LGAs that make up Lagos state, South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA is made up of several districts which include Ago Okota, Ajao estate, Ogunoloko, Shogunle, Mafoluku, Orile-Oshodi, Okota, and Ilasamaja.

    Okota is a multi-lingual area of Lagos. It is dominated by people of different ethnic groups - Yorubas, Igbo, and the Hausas. Most of the people who live in Okota speak English language at least with an average level of proficiency. Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa are also spoken by people of the ethnic group respectively.

    Okota weather is always warm and often cloudy The weather follows two main seasons – a dry season and a wet season.

    • There are so many ways to get in to Okota.
    • By Road - bus, Taxi car, tricycle or motorcycle. There are so many Motor parks in outskirt of Okota from which a person can get to Okota. They include Oshodi Motor Park, Ojota Park, Ikotun Park, CMS Park, Yaba park and others.
    • Oshodi Motor Park. From Oshodi Motor Park, one can get a mini bus or a big bus popularly called Danfo directly to Cele Express Bus stop which is one of entrance to Okota, from Cele Express, one can take tricycle popularly known as Keke to any part of Okota.
    • Ojota, CMS and Yaba Parks - From any of these motor parks, one can get a mini bus directly to Cele Express Bus-stop, from Cele, one can pick Taxi, bus or tricycle to any part of Okota. Prize ranges from ₦100 to 300 per drop but charter is higher

    You can get around by boarding popular tricycles called ‘Keke Napep’, which ply most roads in Okota. The price ranges from place to place and the price range is usually as low as N100 up till N300 depending on proximity of your destination.

    Another way to get around is by taking motorcycles popularly called ‘Okada’. This is usually a one-way transport as it picks you from a particular location in Okota and drops you at your location of choice. It is usually fast, as the riders know how to maneuver in traffic and avoid other hindrances that can deter them from getting to their destination.

    Another way to get around, if you have enough money and you prioritise comfort, is by using popular car hailing companies like Bolt and Uber. From the comfort of your hotel, you book a ride, a driver comes pick you up and take you to your desired location in Okota. It is usually more expensive than Okada and Keke Napep, but it is very comfortable and comes air conditioning.

    Cele Express Bus-stop / Odo Market - The market is located at Cele Express Bus-stop and extend to Odo park. The market can boost of all kind of local and foreign food items, clothes, accessories and many other things. The market is also both day and night market. You can still buy things in this market as late as 11pm.
