[edit]- 1 Athens, one of the world's oldest cities, having been inhabited since 3000 BCE.
- 2 Corfu Town, dates back to the 5th century BCE, with much of the present city built when it was ruled by Venetian nobility between 1386 and 1797.
- 3 Rhodes, the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe.

Cyprus
[edit]- 5 Limassol, the old town is full of historic houses, both from the Ottoman period and the British colonial period.
- 6 Nicosia, with well preserved town walls, which cross over into the North.
Northern Cyprus
[edit]- 7 Famagusta, the walled old centre dates from the 13th century, and several 14th century churches remain.
- 8 Kyrenia, the old centre is dominated by the castle built by the Venetians in 1540.
