[edit]It is bordered on the south-southwest by the Mátra mountains, on the north by the Tarnavidék Landscape Protection Area, and on the east by the Bükk region.
Get in
[edit]The town is 33 km from Eger, 35 km from Salgótarján and 36 km from Ózd. It crosses Highway 23. There is no rail connection.

[edit]- Pétervásár Roman Catholic church. Built for Charles Keglevich in 1812-17. It was one of Hungary first romantic style, neo-Gothic buildings. In the lower church there is the crypt of the Keglevichs, which was walled in 1980 after the death of the last descendant.
- Circular chapel: At the intersection of Kossuth and Petőfi roads stands a small circular church built in 1722 in Baroque style.
- Keglevich Castle. The U-shaped, two-storey baroque castle with a mansard roof was built in 1760 for Gábor Keglevich. Today, a vocational school and a dormitory operate in the building.
- In Freedom Square, the World War I memorial, which has stood in since 1920, and Soviet Heroic Monument.
- Statue of Liberty: on Szabadság Square in the pre-school park since 1967, has honoured the "Soviet Heroes of Liberation".
