Poulsbo is a city on Kitsap Peninsula in the Puget Sound of Washington state. Known as "Little Norway," Poulsbo was settled in 1892 by Norwegian loggers, farmers and fishermen who likened the fjord-cut landscape to their homeland. Front Street is lined with dozens of quaint and colorful shops offering Scandinavian gifts, fine art, fashions and antiques.
Like most towns on the Kitsap Peninsula, Poulsbo was built around the harbor before there were roads, so the town center is geared towards the piers.

Bremerton-Kitsap Airporter, (bus stop) AM/PM Mini-Market at 22003 Viking Way (SE of the junction SR-3 and 305, next to the North Viking Transit Center), ☏ +1 360 876-1737. It provides scheduled ground transportation to and from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to various locations on the Kitsap Peninsula. They also have an additional stop at Wal-Mart on 21200 Olhava Way.
Clallam Transit Rt #123 The Clallam "Strait Shot" (#123) runs thrice daily (M-Sa) and twice on Sundays to Port Angeles from the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal via Suquamish Way and North Viking Transit Center/P&R in Poulsbo with limited stops in Sequim, Jamestown and Discovery Bay.
Jefferson Transit (JT)[dead link] JT #7 connects Poulsbo to Port Townsend via Port Ludlow while the #14 bus goes up to Port Townsend from the Kingston Ferry Terminal.

Amtrak Cascades stops in Edmonds. The station is less than 10 minutes on foot to the ferry terminal, with a Washington State Ferries connection to Kingston more than once an hour. Local buses connect from Kingston's ferry terminal and stop near Poulsbo's waterfront.

Also available to rent is an old-fashioned log hall that sits atop a wooded bluff, with panoramic view of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains. Built in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration, the hall has an expansive, cozy wood interior with an open log cathedral ceiling. If the great outdoors is your passion, rent a kayak and paddle scenic Liberty Bay, take a walking tour of the town, or simply relax along the boardwalk and look for seals, herons and eagles.
The Kitsap Audubon Society has been meeting since 1972 and has a broad coalition of birders tracking and sharing sightings since then. They maintain an active website with updates of the latest sightings, suggestions on areas for birders and even a regular newsletter. They also developed a checklist of birds likely to be seen birds in the area.
The state Audubon society developed The Great Audubon Birding Trail which includes key migration flyways. Flyways are major north-south routes of travel for migratory birds and likely areas to see birds along the route extending from Alaska to Patagonia. Liberty Bay near Poulsbo is one of only a handful of areas named to the list.
Sea kayaking can be a rewarding way to explore the Liberty Bay near Poulsbo. Poulsbo is one of the many harbor towns that cater to kayakers with shops and restaurants accessible from the water.
Organized trails offer overnight camping options and maps of appropriate travel lengths and scenic travel destinations.
