Remscheid Voyage Tips and guide

You can check the original Wikivoyage article Here

Remscheid is in Bergisches Land, Germany and has a bit over 100,000 inhabitants.

Understand

[edit]

Perhaps the most famous son of Remscheid is Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, discoverer of X-Rays, who was born in what is now a part of Remscheid.
Initially a small village overshadowed by the since-annexed Lennep, it boomed during industrialisation. Significant damage during an air raid in July 1943 led to great loss of life and historic buildings in the city centre.
In more recent times, it has successfully cooperated with neighbouring cities to unlock potential in manufacturing and local tourism and to prevent being reduced to a suburb of the nearby metropolises.
