Riung is in RegiFon name.
Riung is a small coastal town and district on the north coast of Flores Island in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It is best known as the gateway to the 17 Islands Marine Park, a group of small, largely uninhabited islands with clear water, coral reefs, and quiet beaches.
Understand
[edit]Riung remains one of the quieter destinations in Flores. Compared to more developed towns like Labuan Bajo, Riung has a slow-paced, rural atmosphere with limited tourism infrastructure. Most visitors come here for nature, snorkelling, and island hopping rather than nightlife or luxury resorts.
The surrounding region is predominantly fishing communities and small farming villages. Tourism is still developing, and services are basic but affordable.
Get in
[edit]Riung is typically accessed by road from Bajawa (around 3–4 hours drive) or from Ende via the coastal road (longer and less frequently used). Roads can be winding and slow, especially during the rainy season.
Public transport options are limited, with most travellers using shared minibuses (bemos) or private drivers.
