Rosario is a town in the western coast of Cavite.
Understand
[edit]Rosario was established by the Spanish in 1845 following the merger of two barrios of San Francisco de Malabon (now General Trias), namely Salinas and Tierra Alta. Its current name derives from the town's patron saint, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. Downtown Rosario is often alternately known as Salinas. Rosario was also the site of the Tejeros Convention, where the Philippine revolutionary government that replaced the Katipunan during the revolution against Spain in 1897 was established, and where the feud between the movement's two leaders, Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Aguinaldo, turned into a civil war that culminated with Bonifacio's execution less than two months later.
As a coastal town along Manila Bay, Rosario is mostly known for its fishing industry, particularly its dried and smoked fish which is commonly branded as "Salinas". Since the 1980s, an alternate economic lifeline has sprung up inland with the establishment of the Cavite Economic Zone (CEZ), a sprawling industrial estate that takes up roughly half of the town's territory. It also hosts a massive oil depot by the energy firm Petron.

[edit]The colorful baby buses (custom-made minibuses) commonly running between Bacoor and Cavite City and Naic ply the main coastal highway which passes through the downtown.
By car
[edit]The main roads are Marseilla Street (Route 401, pronounced MAR-SAY-leeah) leading from Noveleta, and General Trias Drive, which runs north from Antero Soriano Highway in General Trias before converging with Marseilla Street in Rosario Town Plaza.
