Arxiu Històric de Sabadell (Casa Ponsà)

Sabadell is in the south of the comarca of Vallès Occidental, where it is one of the two capitals, the other being Terrassa. It is located on the River Ripoll, 20 km (12 mi) north of Barcelona, 190 m (620 ft) above sea level.

Sabadell pioneered the Industrial Revolution in Catalonia with its textile mills, together with its archrival Terrassa. Thus, in the mid-19th century, it became the most important wool city in Spain, being nicknamed the "Catalan Manchester". Today many mills from that period can still be seen, with most of them having been refurbished as residential buildings or other services.

To the west, Sabadell connects with the  C-58  motorway at three different points. This motorway connects the city with both Terrassa and Manresa and Barcelona. The  N-150  (Carretera de Barcelona between the southern entrance and the Ronda Ponent and Carretera de Terrassa between the Ronda de Ponent and the northern exit/entrance) crosses the entire city, and connects in one direction with Terrassa and in the other with Barberà and Cerdanyola. To the east, there is the  C-155 , which connects with Granollers. To the southeast, there is the  B-140  motorway, which connects with Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. To the northeast, there is the Carretera de Prats de Lluçanès  B-124 , which connects with Castellar del Vallès. To the north is the Carretera de Matadepera  BV-1248 , which connects with this town.

As for the city's ring roads, it has the Ronda Oest  C-58C , which connects the  C-58  with the Matadepera road  BV-1248  to the west of the city centre, between the Castellarnau and Can Llong neighbourhoods. The arrival of the Quart Cinturó  B-40  is also planned, which will act as the Ronda Nord, connecting the current Ronda Oest with the Castellar road.
