Nau Gaja Peer roughly translates to the "Nine Gaja Saint" (Gaj is a traditional unit of length in India equivalent to about 0.91 metres or 3 feet). This makes the legendary saint the shrine is dedicated to more than 8 metres or 27 feet. The shrine also houses a Hindu Shiva temple. As such, it is pilgrimage site visited by both Muslims and Hindus.
