Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel is an essential passage for boating to go up the river or the Richelieu River. Citizen life is integrated with other surrounding towns, in particular for: shops, private services (hotels, restaurants, etc.), government or parapublic services and road access. The main attractions of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel are, in particular:

Geography
[edit]The residential part of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel is wedged between the QIT-Fer & Titane inc sector (located to the west) and Sorel Forge as well as QSL Canada (located along the Richelieu River, i.e. east), within the municipal territory. This small town is surrounded by Sorel-Tracy.
To the west and north of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel, the river offers a body of water where commercial and recreational navigation generates dense river traffic; while to the east the Richelieu River is the subject of very active pleasure boating.

Take the Jacques-Cartier bridge (east); take route 132 (eastbound) to Varennes; take Chemin du Pays-Brûlé (eastbound); take Autoroute 30 (northbound) to Sorel-Tracy; take route 223 (northbound); take rue Saint-Joseph (northbound); to the heart of the village of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel.
- From Quebec (199 km, time: 2 hr 36 min). Take Autoroute 40 (west) to Trois-Rivières (taking Autoroute 55 (north) for a few kilometers north); continue on Highway 40 to Berthier; take route 158 (southbound) taking the ferry from Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola to Sorel; take Route 132 (west); take rue Bouvier (north), to the heart of the village of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel.
By train

Visitors can visit the Forest and Wood Discovery Center, practice at the Berthier Golf Club, stop at the Domaine Féodal cheese dairy or at the Chemin Grande Côte roadside rest area, visit the old Sainte-Geneviève church or stop at the Rang Sainte-Philomène plantation.

- 3 Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola Municipality formed by a deltaic archipelago composed of 17 islands, the largest of which is Saint-Ignace Island. This locality is a river paradise for vacationing, pleasure boating, observation of flora, avifauna and riparian habitats. These channels attract tens of thousands of boaters in the summer. Its wetlands (eg, the Girodeau Islands) are ideal for protecting birds, nesting and hunting migratory birds in the fall.
- 4 Sorel-Tracy A city of major events (La Boucle du Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie, Gib Fest a summer festival, IO Experience presenting a series of shows, Les Régates de Sorel-Tracy), art and culture (with Azimut diffusion, Biophare, dance, wall fresco, house of music, house of governors, literary walk, historical society Pierre-de-Saurel and Statera the fabulous archipelago).
