Sant Lluís (Spanish: San Luis) is a municipality on the tip of south-east Menorca in the Spanish Balearic Islands. The area is most noteworthy for its varied coastline, with fine sand beaches and cliffs. It is a pleasant village 5 km south of Maó, with a low-rise grid centred on its 18th century neoclassical church. Es Moli de Dalt is a windmill two blocks north of the church, restored as a museum and tourist information centre. Sant Lluís the districts of S'Algar and Punta Prima.

[edit]1 Menorca Airport (Mahon Airport MAH IATA) There are regular flights available from mainland Spain and the sister islands of Ibiza and Mallorca through Iberia and their subsidiary Air Nostrum. Flights from Spain are also available from Barcelona with Vueling. If travelling from the UK, various airlines offer regular scheduled services during the summer tourist season. Airlines Jet2, TUI Airways[dead link], and EasyJet all fly from various regional and main UK airports direct to Menorca. British Airways offer services from London Heathrow, Gatwick and City airports. To get to your resort, Menorca's airport is served by buses to Maó (€1.50, 15 min) every half hour from around 06:00 to 22:00 and then hourly to midnight. The bus stops at the bus station, the Estacio Maritima and a couple of other intermediate points. Buses are then available to various resorts and towns across the island from the bus station. Taxis are available directly in front of the airport terminal and there is a range of car hire options to get to your resort. There are also various services (bookable online) that allow direct coach transfers to resorts across the island.

[edit]- 1 Church of Sant Lluis (Església de Sant Lluís). A neoclassical church. Built by the French architect Antoine d'Allemand (1679–1760), the 32-m-high bell tower is the tallest building in Sant Sant Lluís. The façade features a pediment bearing the coat of arms of the Kingdom of France and a portico with three arches. The central arch is the main entrance to the church.
- 2 Caló Blanc. The smallest beach in Menorca, enclosed in a cove that is protected from the wind.
- 3 Illa de l'Aire. This islet 1 km south of Punta Prima has a lighthouse and is overrun by black lizards. The waters around it are a marine reserve so the fish life is more plentiful than most of the Med.

[edit]In the centre of Sant Lluís, there are two large supermarkets, four bakeries, and two butchers. All the shops are on the shopping street near the church and the three banks.

- 2 Na Rosa. Restaurant with large outdoor terrace, specialising in Spanish artisan cheeses and pate. Also do a delicious cava sangria.

- 4 Txoko Menorca. Restaurant with a lovely shaded outdoor dining area, a reservation is highly recommended.
Drink
[edit]In Sant Lluís, evening entertainment is usually organised in the hotels and some bars.
Among the drinks, gin is a legacy of English rule on Menorca. Gin with lemonade or freshly squeezed lemon juice is called "pomada".
