[edit]The first mention dates back to 898, when the church is mentioned, which was rebuilt in 950 and consecrated by Gotmar, the bishop of Girona, after its destruction in the Hungarian raid of 942. From the 11th century, the town depended ecclesiastically on the canonry of Sant Pere Cercada and, from the point of view of civil jurisdiction, on the Castell de Farners. A market has been held there since 1334, thanks to a concession from King Peter III, and from the 15th century it was the seat of a barony, lorded by the Vilademany family.

[edit]- 1 Monastery of Sant Pere Cercada (Monestir de Sant Pere Cercada). The church dates from 1063, but opposition from the Monastery of San Salvador in Breda prevented the establishment of the Augustinian community until 1136. The new church, of Romanesque design, was built between the end of the 12th and beginning of the 13th centuries and consecrated in 1245 by the Bishop of Girona, William of Montgrí. From 1480, the already decadent community was managed by commendatory priors until 1592, when it became dependent on the Augustinian convent of La Seu d'Urgell. The church is a magnificent example of late Romanesque architecture.
- 2 Parc de Sant Salvador. Created for public use at the end of the 19th century, it is a natural space created around the Font de Sant Salvador. The Font de Sant Salvador was already used by the inhabitants of Santa Coloma in the mid-18th century, but it was not until the September Revolution of 1868 that an attempt was made to create a public area that was finally converted into one in 1895.
- 3 Sant Salvi de Cladells. The building consists of a convent part with a courtyard and the church. Built from a hermitage or chapel referenced since 1282 and dedicated to the bishop and martyr Saint Salvi. With the transfer of relics of the saint from Rome in 1591 the hermitage became a sanctuary. In 1690 it was given by the Marquis of Rupit to the Franciscans who founded a convent there. From 1735 the Franciscans have care. Nowadays it is a private property.
- 4 Sant Miquel de Cladells. In the year 950, in the consecration of Santa Coloma by the bishop of Girona Gotmar, the church of Sant Miquel Arcàngel located in the valley dependent on Santa Coloma is mentioned. This document indicates that the church was granted to Giscafred, son of Ennec. In 1362, a parish church appears with the name of Sancti Michaele de Claudellis. At the beginning of the 18th century it seems to have been in good condition. In 1755, the General Council updated the distribution of wheat to the different farms. During the French War, the temple was looted and the main altars, of the Roser and of Sant Llorenç, were destroyed. In 1828, there was already a new main altar and another dedicated to the Virgin of Sorrows.

- 5 Castell de Farners. It appears documented in 1046. The castle was a fief of the viscounty of Cardona and the castellany was held by the Farners family until the 13th century, when it passed to the Vilademany. In 1240 Pere Ramon de Vilademany ceded it in a will to his son Arnau and linked the manorial dependency to viscount Ramon Folc IV of Cardona. Its last use dates from the 18th century, when it was occupied by a Bourbon regiment following the War of Succession. free.

- 6 Mare de Déu de Farners church (Ermita de la Mare de Déu de Farners). Mare de Déu de Farners is a hermitage built at the foot of Farners Castle. The initial construction of the 11th century was located in the current apse, although it is not preserved. The current construction corresponds to the year 1200. Throughout the 18th century the hermitage was expanded with a transept with an elliptical dome, an entrance nave and a porch, leaving it as it is today; in 1883 the staircase and choir were built.
