    Itaúna Beach

    Saquarema is a town of 91,000 people (2016) in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in the Southeast of Brazil.

    Saquarema has beautiful beaches: Massambaba, Barra Nova, Prainha, Boqueirão, Itaúna, Jaconé, Vilatur and Vila, with favorable conditions for surfing. One of the most famous is Itaúna beach. A predominantly tourist city, it is also known as "The national surfing capital". The waves on its beaches are among the best in the country.

    It is about 100 km from the city of Rio de Janeiro. The main road accesses are:

    • RJ-128 - Av. Saquarema/Estrada do Palmital
