Saquarema is a town of 91,000 people (2016) in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in the Southeast of Brazil.

[edit]Saquarema has beautiful beaches: Massambaba, Barra Nova, Prainha, Boqueirão, Itaúna, Jaconé, Vilatur and Vila, with favorable conditions for surfing. One of the most famous is Itaúna beach. A predominantly tourist city, it is also known as "The national surfing capital". The waves on its beaches are among the best in the country.

[edit]In addition to national and international surfing championships, religious festivals are an important attraction for local tourism. The main tourist attractions of the city are: beaches, lakes, waterfalls and cascades, and mountains.
