Shai Hills Resource Reserve is in Doryumu, the Shai Osudoku District of Greater Accra.

[edit | edit source]Shai Hills Resource Reserve was proclaimed a Forest Reserve in 1962 with an area of 47km² but was later expanded to 51km² in 1973.
Before 1892, it was home to the Shai people until they were sent out later by the British. The works of the Shai people still remain here in the reserve.

[edit | edit source]Baboons, green monkeys, antelopes, zebras, mammals, reptiles and over 172 bird species have been identified in the reserve.

Any movement within the reserve (except at the visitor centre) needs to be accompanied by a (paid) guide.

- Mogo Hill. This is the most popular spot for hiking.

[edit | edit source]- You can visit the reserve all through the year, but it could be difficult travelling during the rainy season.
- You can find baboon troop at the front gate amusing but be careful these baboons can snatch your personal belongings if you are not vigilant.
