Siheung (시흥, 始興) is a city to the southwestern of Seoul. It is a satellite city because it is close to Seoul and Incheon. Because of the Sihwa National Industrial Complex, it forms an important pillar of Gyeonggi Province's industry on its own, and is also an attractive city with nature, such as the Siheung Gaetgol Ecology Park and sea route.
Siheung's urban structure is largely divided into five districts: Northern, Eastern, Central, Wolgot, and Jeongwang Living Zone.
Northern - Daeya, Shincheon, Eunhaeng, Eungye: Siheung's most populous area and an old city residential area close to Seoul, Bucheon, and Incheon.
Eastern - Guarim, Maehwa, Mokgam: It is an area where there were many factories and warehouses, and is being transformed into the development of Gwangmyeong Siheung New Town.
Central - Sinhyeon, Yeonseong, City Hall (Janggok+Janghyeon+Neunggok), Geomo: It is an emerging center with Siheung City Hall and Administrative Town, where eco-friendly development is promoted.
Wolgot - Wolgot, Baegot: It was famous for its fish market and entertainment district, but is now transformed into a residential area due to the development of the station influence area.
Jeongwang - Jeongwang: A planned city and an area with strong multicultural characteristics, a center of the industrial complex and port industry.
A city located in southwestern Gyeonggi-do. The Siheung-si area used to be the land of Incheon Dohobu (formerly Sorae-eup) and Ansan-gun (formerly Suam-myeon, Gunmyeon), and has no connection to the original Siheung.
The city area is about 140 ㎢. However, as the city is widely distributed like Yongin and Namyangju, and the ratio of mountains and flat lands is similar, it feels much wider than the actual area.
At the time of the city's promotion in 1989, the population was only around 100,000, but from the 1990s to the early 2000s, the number of people surged to 310,000 in just over a decade as various land readjustment projects, housing site development projects, and residential areas behind the Sihwa Industrial Complex were moved in. Since then, development has been carried out in various places such as Neunggok, Baegot, Mokgam, Eungye, and Janghyeon, adding fuel to the population growth, and even now, various projects such as Ha-joong District, Geomo District, and Gwangmyeong Siheung New Town are planned and underway, so they are free from the problem of population decline, which is a nationwide headache.

Siheung-dong (始興洞, 1963 - ) is a legal-dong in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. Siheung 1-dong, Siheung 2-dong, Siheung 3-dong, Siheung 4-dong, and Siheung 5-dong are administrative-dong.
Siheung Station is the old name of Geumcheon-gu Office Station.
Siheung-dong (始興洞, 1973 - ) is an administrative building and legal building in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Siheung’s climate is very similar to that of nearby Ansan, Incheon, and Seoul. Compared to inland cities such as Suwon, Siheung shows more moderate temperature changes throughout the year. It generally features a temperate climate influenced by both continental and marine characteristics. As Siheung is located along the West Sea, sea breezes frequently affect the area.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, Siheung’s climate is closer to that of Incheon than to inland regions like Suwon. Summers tend to be slightly cooler and winters slightly warmer than Seoul or Suwon, with an average difference of about 1–2 degrees Celsius due to maritime influence. While most areas of Siheung do not show strong coastal-city characteristics, the nearby tidal flats and coastline contribute to a relatively mild and comfortable climate. Annual precipitation is around 1,300mm, similar to other west coast regions. Although summer is very humid due to oceanic influences, the city has well-developed drainage systems, so flood damage is rare.
Seohae Line (Sosa–Wonsi Line) connects Siheung with Incheon and southwestern Seoul.
The Seoul Subway Line 4 and Suin-Bundang Line connects the outskirts of Siheung, and transfers are required to get to the center.
There are eight subway stations in Siheung. Five stations are on the West Sea Line, three on Suyangdang, and two of the three stations are also shared with Line 4.

Siheung City Bus operates a variety of routes that connect major areas in the city as well as routes that lead to the outskirts. In Siheung City, there are regular city buses that connect village buses for local residents and major bases, and wide-area buses and shuttle buses that connect to other areas of the Seoul metropolitan area, such as Seoul and Incheon, are also available. No. 510: This is the main route that runs from Baegot New Town to Siheung City Hall and Sorae Port. No. 3200: A wide-area bus that connects directly to Yeouido, Seoul, provides convenient travel from Baegot New Town to Yeouido. Due to the good accessibility to Yeouido's business district, many office workers use it all week long, especially during rush hour. It is regarded as a route that reduces the travel stress of commuters by supporting direct travel to Yeouido.
