Soroti is a city in Eastern Uganda that was angulated in 2020. It serves as the primary urban, business, and administrative hub within the delineated area of Soroti District, one of the nine administrative districts in the Teso sub-region.

Soroti City is situated within Soroti District, located in the Teso sub-region of the Eastern Region in Uganda, to the north of Lake Kyoga. Soroti is approximately 103 kilometers (64 miles) away from the city of Mbale, which is the largest urban center in Uganda's Eastern Region. It is positioned along the Tororo–Mbale–Soroti Road, which is also part of the Lira-Mbale route, and is approximately 326 kilometers (203 miles) northeast of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.

[edit]When coming to Soroti by air, you will actually arrive in the city of Entebbe, 35 km (22 mi) southwest of Kampala.
You can get from Entebbe airport to Soroti:
- By Private Hire taxi (approx Ugx 300,000 one-way)
- By flight to Soroto Airstrip (approx ugx600,000)
- By hotel shuttle (e.g. if you have a reservation with a Hotel ask for their shuttle added to your hotel bill, for the one-way trip if shared -chances are very high there are other hotel guests arriving on your flight).
- By Public Transport from Kampala to Soroti (approx Ugx 50,000) or from Mbale to Soroti (approx Ugx 10,000). Soroti is 112 km from Mbale and 124 km from Lira to Soroti (approx Ugx 150,000).
Get around
[edit]Soroti city is quite spread out from Soroti Airstrip to the Soroti Rock, and if you intend to go shopping to the several supermarkets in the city like like OM supermarket, Goalman supermarket, Dubai shopping center and many more, you can grab a motorcycle that can move around the city at Shs 2000-5000.
