South Penghu Marine National Park (Chinese: 澎湖南方四島國家公園) is a marine park in the Penghu islands of Taiwan.

[edit]The South Penghu Marine National Park, literally translated as Penghu South Four Islands Park , consists of four main islands: Dongjiyu, Xijiyu, Dongyupingyu, and Xiyupingyu. In addition, there are several smaller islets: Toujin, Tiezhen, Zhongzai, Zhumujiao, Erwen, Xianglu, Chutoujiao, Chai'anwen, Liwenzai.

Get in
[edit]If you are in Jiangjun, you can depart from 1 Jiang Jyun Fishing Port (將軍漁港). to Dongjiyu. Journey takes about one hour.
If you are already in Magong, you can go from2 Magong Nanhai Harbor (馬公南海碼頭). to Wangan, and then continue from 3 Wangan fishing harbor (望安潭門港). to Xiyupingyu, Dongyupingyu and Dongjiyu.
Xijiyu has no pier, so you can only admire it from the sea.
Fees and permits

Except for protected basalt reserve islands such as Xijiyu, Toujin, and Tiezhen, you can explore freely without the need for complicated permit applications. As long as you stay on the paved roads, you can also get around and enjoy Dongjiyu.
Get around
[edit]You can walk, or if you really don't want to walk, there are motorcycle rental shops on Dongjiyu, but you'll still have to walk on Dongyupingyu.

[edit]- 1 Dongjiyu Lighthouse (東吉嶼燈塔). A lighthouse with a height of 24.4 meters, built in 1911 by the Japanese during the times of the Japanese colonial empire.
- 2 Japanese Army Site (日軍遺址) (Reach the end of the cement road). Weathered and deteriorated bunkers, air-raid shelters, and “aircraft wreckage.” These were originally built by the Japanese military to strengthen defenses in the Taiwan Strait.
Xijiyu
[edit]- 3 Blue Cave. An impressive sea cave off the coast of Wangan, created by erosion. However, you can on;y view it from a distance on a boat.

[edit]There are no shops on the island. However, you can purchase coin sets themed after the South Penghu Marine National Park at post offices throughout Taiwan.
Eat and Drink
[edit]Your accommodation is likely to provide meals; otherwise, it is best to return to Wang'an Township or the main Penghu islands for more options.

Stay safe
[edit]There is limited shade on the island, so be sure to use sun protection and stay hydrated. Watch out for snakes, and please stick to designated paths.
