Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is a safe destination, suitable for families with children.

    Get In

    [edit]

If you come for a day trip with one of Baltic cruising ferries with Junibacken as a key destination, planning the day is essential as it's quite hard to pack something else into the few hours you have left.

    Get around

    [edit]

    Public transport

    [edit]

Buses give free rides to a stroller with a child, and one accompanying adult.

Children younger than 7 ride public transport for free, but must be accompanied by an adult with a good ticket. On weekends from Friday noon, six children younger than 12 years old, ride for free with one accompanying adult.

Most museums are free of charge for children.

    • 1 Stockholm City Museum (Stadsmuseet i Stockholm), Ryssgården. This building was finished in the 1660s, as Stockholm's Southern City Hall. Over the centuries, it has been used as a courthouse, a jail, an anatomic theatre, and a school. Since 1942 it is a museum, displaying Stockholm's history from 1523 to present day, with special attention to construction and architecture, and activities for children. The museum organizes walking tours.
    • Skansen (Stockholm/Djurgården) is an open air museum with both Scandinavian animals and lots of old cultural buildings from all over Sweden. Very popular with families.
