Suwarrow National Park (sometimes Suwarrow Atoll National Park) is a national park in the northern Cook Islands. The atoll is linked to the New Zealand writer Tom Neale, who retired there in complete solitude for 5 years, dedicating them to the writing of the book An Island to Oneself, which became a bestseller. Today, numerous private yachts anchor in the Suwarrow Lagoon.

[edit]- See the numerous seabirds that inhabit the park. Most of their habitats remain untouched on this island, so it's a very easy sight
- Several modest historical sites recall New Zealand author Tom Neale who lived alone on Suwarrow for a total of about 16 years across three periods between 1952 and 1977. Short informal paths from the landing beach lead to Tom Neale's house — the small cabin he built, now maintained with one section serving as a lending library for yachts (borrow or leave books) and the rest used by rangers; Tom Neale memorial, a concrete bust erected in his honour; and his Summer house / sunset shelter, a simple open-sided beach shelter where he relaxed and watched sunsets. The sites are easy to explore on foot in 30–60 minutes. Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes for sharp coral.
