    Tam Dao (Tam Đảo) is a hill station 930 m above sea level in Northern Vietnam. It's 70 km from Hanoi.

    Tam Dao was founded by French colonialists in 1907 as a summer retreat from the heat of Hanoi.

    The cheapest way to reach Tam Dao from Hanoi is to take a local bus (30,000 dong, 1 hour) and a taxi to travel the last 20 km (US$10) or by motorbike taxi (80,000 dong). By private taxi from Hanoi, it's 700,000 dong (2 hours).
