[edit]Get around
[edit]To get in and around Tanjung Resang, invariably you'll need to drive or ride a motorcycle. There are no buses that go to Tanjung Resang, though you can get a taxi from Mersing, about a 15 minute drive. Some cycling enthusiasts use their racing or mountain bikes to get to Tanjung Resang, but given the mostly rough terrain there, a mountain bike is better.
See
[edit]The view from Gunung Arong's peak is a sight not to be missed. Not only can you see the entire Tanjung Resang bay, but on a clear day even Pulau Tioman is clearly visible.
Other Tanjung Resang sights include the various pods of dolphins that inhabit the bay, as well as the 2, at times 3 meter beach break surf that rolls in during the December to February months.
The wildlife around Tanjung Resang jungle is interesting too. Expect to see snakes, monkeys, as well as wild boars, flying foxes, eagles, otters, porcupines, scorpions, civet cats and countless exotically-plumed bird species.
There are also a few small Malay kampungs still in their authentic state.
Do
[edit]Scale Gunung Arong and enjoy the spectacular view from its summit at over 200 metres. At the foot of Gunung Arong there's a waterfall and natural pool, great for a quick dip to refresh yourself after the climb.
Other Tanjung Resang activities, especially during the Northeast monsoon, include surfing, kite-boarding, windsurfing and skim-boarding. During this time of the year (November-March) the winds pack quite a punch, whipping up the seas to impressively-sized swell and beach surf, ideal for high-wind sailors and wave-surfers.
During the milder Southwest monsoon (May-October), the area is somewhat shielded from the winds by the jutting capes, rendering the waters calmer and clear and thus more suitable for more recreational sailing, sailing classes, as well as kayaking, snorkeling, freediving, scuba diving, fishing, stand up paddling and island-hopping boat trips.
That said, outside the Tanjung Resang bay the winds at times can still good enough for high-speed windsurfing.
Tanjung Resang's pristine hinterland also lends itself for eco-tourism, off-roading and hiking.
