Tineo or Tinéu is a village in Asturias in northern Spain. With a population of 8700 in 2025, it's set among mountains and is a stopover on Camino Primitivo pilgrimage trail to Santiago.
Get in
[edit]Tineo is on Highway AS-215 through the mountains, at the junction of AS-217. From Oviedo follow A-63 west to La Espina then branch south on AS-215.
The nearest airport is Asturias (OVD IATA) west of Avilés. By road take AS-16 south to join A-63. By public transport take the airport bus to Oviedo then another bus out.
Alsa buses run from Oviedo every hour or two, taking 90 min via Grado, Cornellana and La Espina, and continuing south to Cangas del Narcea (another 40 min). One bus a day runs from Grandas de Salime to the southwest.
Buses approaching Tineo stop at San Roque, at the swimming pool, and at Santa Teresa cattle market ("Recinto Ferial"), but stay aboard for the station in town centre.
1 Estación Bus Tineo is modern but cold and draughty.
