18 Aug - I'm sick! Ack! I can't string two thoughts together right now so I'm not going to even TRY to do anything productive here... back once the germies go away.
Hi! I'm still trying to work out what this is all about... I'm a longtime wikipedian and I've helped out on the wiktionary, so this is a natural extension. I think in a way it's a more feasible and useful project than either of them - not everyone knows about grammer and spelling, and the wikipedia is so overwhelmingly generalised that it's crushing itself under its own weight by trying to be all things to all people, but this is a lot more specific. And everyone ought to be able to contribute something because EVERYONE knows something about tourist destinations in their local area!
I'm Australian and I just spent three months travelling in the USA and Canada. I LOVE travel and I LOVE photography and I LOVE writing... so I guess that makes me a natural!
Anyway, I'll be trying to do my bit once I figure out what exactly it is that is needed here... I have a million questions. How specific do we need the information to be? Is it okay to make lists of tourist destinations etc and fill them in later? And if we DO want lists, what type of lists do we want? Should I list all the tourist attractions that I know of in Victoria, or all the major towns, etc. Do we want information on modes of travel (bus, plane, train etc), or just places to go? Do you want pictures of the places that we've been or just information about them? I have a million travel photos that I could upload and some of them are actually worth looking at! lol I don't want to unnecessarily duplicate things that other people already have in mind.
