An amateur historian specializing in the Middle Mauricie, Gaétan Veillette (Wikipedian pseudonym: Veillg1) has been very active on Wikivoyage, having created more than 453 articles in French (i.e. more than 5% of all articles in French) until November 2023, especially in Quebec. In addition, he created the majority of articles on Wikipedia (French) on the ZEC (controlled exploitation zones) of Quebec, the majority of articles relating to the watercourses of Quebec, as well as numerous bodies of water. He has also designed and/or edited hundreds of biographical articles. He became passionate about the regional history of Batiscanie and Mauricie (Quebec, Canada).

His mission is to enrich the content of Wikivoyage by rigorously describing the attractions of each locality.
