Most Uyghurs in China are also able to speak Mandarin, so it's not really necessary to communicate in Uyghur. That said, attempting to communicate in the language will surely impress the locals.
Pronunciation guide
[edit]Uyghur pronunciation is fairly straightforward except for the sounds "gh" and "x" which might need some practice. It is generally written in the Arabic script.
