[edit]- The Valiano Fair: Approved by Grand Duke Leopoldo since 1782, the Valiano Fair takes place on August 10th of each year, on the occasion of the feast of San Lorenzo. The spirit of the event is to spread the appreciation of livestock breeding and the consumption of certified quality meat of the Chianina breed, a native breed in the territories of Umbria, Marche and Tuscany. The fair is accompanied by popular celebrations, recreational meetings and cultural events.
- The Palio of the Carts: The Palio dei Carretti is a highly anticipated competitive event that takes place on the fourth Sunday of September to win the palio , a painted banner in honor of the SS Crocefisso. Six districts participate: Castello, Chiesina, Fonte, Dogana, Padule and Ponte. Starting from the highest area of the town, near the Church of the Holy Rosary (Chiesina), the drivers climb aboard carts built on four wooden axles, supported by two pairs of ball bearings. After the start, the participants pick up speed on the straight stretch of the steep descent that crosses the town, to tackle with daring maneuvers the three curves that lead to the final stretch, until reaching the finish line on the historic bridge.
