[edit]Vielha is the capital of the Aran Valley (Val d'Aran) and the head of the municipality of Vielha e Mijaran. It is centrally located in the valley and rises at an altitude of 980 m (3,220 ft), at the confluence of the Garonne with its tributary the Nere river.

[edit]- From Pallars via the Bonaigua Pass (2,072 m), the C-28 road runs the 48 km that the valley covers to the border at Pont de Rei.
- Vielha tunnel, which, with a length of 5,173 m, links Ribagorça (southern entrance: 1,626 m) with Aran (northern tunnel entrance at 1,390 m).
- From France, via Pont de Rei, you reach the French road N-618 which becomes the N-230.
- From Bagneres de Luchon passing through Portilló, the French road N-125 becomes the N-141, up to Bossost.

- 1 Church of Sant Miquèu. The church, with Romanesque and Gothic elements (the portal stands out), houses the Christ of Mijaran, a Romanesque carving considered the main sculptural example of Aran.
- 2 Museum of the Val d'Aran (Museo del Valle de Arán), Tor deth Generau Martinhon. It's in a 17th-century manor house that exhibits various aspects and elements of the geology, vegetation, fauna, climatology, history, archaeology, art, language and ethnology of the valley. The Museum was inaugurated in 1984.
- The Fabrica dera Lan, a 19th-century building dedicated to showing the old wool industry.
- The Parador de Vielha, on the hill of Eth Castèth, built in 1966.
- The Palai de Gèu (Ice Palace), modern sports center and ice rink, built in 1994
- The Palai d'Espòrts, new pavilion located next to the Palai de Gèu, intended for holding sporting events.
