Vils is a small town in Tyrol. It is close to Füssen in Germany and makes for a more sedate alternative base for trips to the castles of Hohenschwangau.

[edit]From Innsbruck, it takes 2h40m, change trains in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and then in Reutte in Tirol.
From Munich, its takes 2h40 - 3h. You will either change trains in Kempten only or in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and then in Reutte in Tirol. The Bayern-Ticket, a Bavaria-wide travel pass, is valid for the trip from Munich to Vils.
By bus

[edit]- The nearby villages of Pflach, Pinswang and Musau are easy to reach by bus or train. Reutte around 10 km to the south, is the area's main town.
- The Castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, near Füssen, are the region's main tourist draw. Walk, cycle or go by bus 71.
- The nearest major cities of Innsbruck, Munich and Augsburg are easy to reach by car or train.
