Set at about 1,000 m on the slopes of Mount Mainalo, It developed as a regional trade centre during Ottoman times and later played a role in the Greek War of Independence. Today it blends history with tourism, attracting visitors for cool summers and snowy winters. Its main street and square are lined with tavernas, cafés, and small shops selling local products such as honey, herbs, and dairy goods.

[edit]Vytina is about 2 hr by car from Athens and around 40 min from Tripoli. The drive passes through scenic mountain roads and forests. Public buses connect via Tripoli, but services are limited—having your own vehicle is the easiest way to explore the area.
