The western half of Hamilton County is less populated than the eastern half, and remains divided into the original townships rather than having formed many cities. The western fringes of suburban Cincinnati give way to parkland and then farmland along the Great Miami River.

[edit]Most of this part of the county is divided into several townships: Springfield, Colerain, Green, Delhi, Miami, Whitewater, Crosby, and Harrison.
Some independent cities or villages in western Hamilton County include:
- Cheviot. Tiny city close to Cincinnati, popular destination for bar-goers.
- Cleves. Small village close to Cincinnati. Home of Harrison's Tomb historical site and also host to the annual Gravelrama event.
- Harrison, a city mostly surrounded by the township of the same name.

[edit]I-74 runs through the region on its way from Cincinnati to Indianapolis. I-275 crosses the regions as well.

[edit]METRO also has bus service to Harrison from Cincinnati, however it only runs during the week.

- 3 William Henry Harrison Memorial, 41 Cliff Rd, North Bend. 10AM - 6PM. William Henry Harrison Memorial is a small park with a tall monument containing Harrison's tomb. William Henry Harrison was the ninth and shortest serving president. Free.
- 4 Cincinnati State Technical and Community College - Harrison Campus.
- 5 St. John the Baptist Harrison. A historic church.
- 6 American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute, 701 Enterprise Dr (Harrison), ☏ +1 513-367-9800, toll-free: +1-866-367-2924, [email protected]. An institute dedicated to the horological community. Offers a private library, that may be visited by members of the public by appointment only.

[edit]- 1 Winton Woods (Springfield Township). Second largest county park. Contains an 18-hole disc golf course, trails, basketball courts, equestrian trail, campsitesand a lake with a harbor, boathouse, and visitor center.
- 2 Mitchell Memorial Forest (Miami Township).
- 3 Shawnee Lookout (Miami Township). Along with trails, contains 34 prehistoric archaeological sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
- 4 Miami Whitewater Forest (Crosby and Whitewater Townships). Largest county park. Included in the park are the 7.8-mile paved Shaker Trace Trail as well as many other shorter trails. There is also a golf course, a large campground, and horseback riding.
