This page in a nutshell: Generally, if an attraction or business is not worth going to, leave it out. If a negative review is given, explain why the review is negative. |
There is an exception to this rule if voyagers may be led to the attraction or venue by other information sources. For example:
- The venue is prominently featured in other guidebooks.
- The venue is widely advertised.
- The venue is prominently located — across from the train station, right in the middle of town.
- The place is the only one or one of very few options in town - state the venue's problems and let our readers make an informed choice
In these cases, write the listing but note in the description that the place isn't worth going to, explaining why it should be avoided.
If a destination has only a few reviews (or a few accommodation options), and some are negative, do not delete them — some information is better than none.
Comments about unsavory aspects of the destination in general are not "negative reviews". Examples include comments about unsafe areas, prostitution or drug use, police corruption, pollution, poor climate and so on; these are all welcome as long as they are sincere and fair comments for the traveller's benefit.
