Wyandra is a small town of 78 (2021) in the southwest corner of Outback Queensland. Wyandra doesn't have much going for it, but it is a stopover town between Cunnamulla near the NSW border and Charleville, a regional centre.
The town has been consistently facing a steady population decline.
Understand
[edit]Get in
[edit]Wyandra is on the Mitchell Highway (A71), the main highway connecting Augathella and Bathurst (New South Wales) via Dubbo, Nyngan and Charleville. Wyandra specifically is 99 km (62 mi) north of Cunnamulla and 100 km (62 mi) south of Charleville. Although both are on the Mitchell Highway, the road between Cunnamulla and Wyandra is significantly better – with a road shoulder and a 110 km/h (68 mph) speed limit – compared to the road between Wyandra and Charleville which lacks a shoulder, much narrower and only has a 100 km/h (62 mph) speed limit.
Get around
[edit]See
[edit]Wyandra does not have much going for it as it's a stopover town. Don't expect anything much for a town of its size.
- 1 The Beach, Mount Alfred Road (1.5 km west of A71). The town's only supposed attraction which happens to be a "beach". Except the colour of the water at the "beach" is turd (despite the fluff seen on official tourism websites) – but hey, who cares if the water looks shit, you can still go fishing! (not advisable despite it being legal)
Do

[edit]Eat, drink and sleep
[edit]- 1 Wyandra Hotel, 21 Railway St, ☏ +61 7 4654 0273, +61 412 225 924, [email protected]. The town's only pub and hotel.
- Camping is permitted at some parts of the town – however, cleanliness is much to be desired. You are much better doing so in nearby Charleville.
