Yibin (宜宾 Yíbīn) is a city in East Sichuan. Located at the junction of Yunguichuan three provinces, Jinsha River, Min River and Yangtze River, the terrain is high southwest and low northeast, is a subtropical monsoon humid climate, with a total area of 13,283 square kilometers. As of October 2022, the city had three municipalities and seven counties. By the end of 2022, the city's resident population was 4.618 million.

[edit]- Jiangbei Park (江北公园, Floating Wine Cup Brook Park 流杯池公园) (The park can be reached by the number 4 bus from the city centre). Located in the Jiangbei district in the north of the city, the park was once home to the Song Dynasty poet Huang Tingjian.
- 1 Shunan Zhuhai National Park (蜀南竹海国家公园) (Buses for the park leave from Nan An station in the south of the city. Most services only go as far as Chang Ning (¥16.5) where you will have to change buses for Wangli village at the west gate of the park (¥5). There is also now a tour bus that leaves from Nan An station. It leaves around 8.30 or 9.00 - they will wait for the bus to fill. The journey costs ¥20 each way. The tour cost varies depending on the number of people on the bus - it's ¥300 all up, so if there is a full bus (15 people) you'll pay ¥20 each). Located 68km to the south east of Yibin city, Shunan Zhuhai National Park is a seemingly endless expanse of Bamboo complete with cliff top temples, waterfalls and caves. Scenes from the movie 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' were shot here. Entrance to the park is ¥110 during the high season from January-November and ¥60 during the low season.
- Shichengshan (Stone City Mountain, 石城山) (Buses for Heng Jiang leave from the West bus station and cost around ¥10. The journey can take up to 2hrs as the road is, for the most part, unsealed. There is, however, a new highway under construction which should be completed soon. From Heng Jiang you can hire a motorbike taxi to the mountain for about ¥40 return). Shichengshan is around 60km south-west of Yibin city, close to the village of Heng Jiang. The mountain contains lakes, waterfalls, Song dynasty tombs and sweeping views of the local countryside.
- [dead link] Lizhuang (李庄古镇) (Buses leave from Nan An station in the south of the city. The journey costs ¥4.80 and takes around 30mins). A sleepy riverside town to the east of Yibin city with crumbling Qing dynasty buildings and pleasant tree lined streets. The town was a base for the resistance against the Japanese during the second world war and Shanghai's Tongli University was relocated here in that period.
- Zhao Yiman Memorial Hall（赵一曼纪念馆）From downtown Yibin, take bus No. 10 or No. 15 directly to the Cuiping Mountain Scenic Area, then walk to the memorial hall.The memorial hall, located on the site of the former Cuiping Academy within the Cuiping Mountain Scenic Area, commemorates Zhao Yiman, a female anti-Japanese heroine. It houses a large collection of documents and exhibits, and regularly hosts patriotic education activities.
- 2 Xingwen World Geopark (兴文世界地质公园), Xingdi Road, Xingwen County, (宜宾市兴文县兴底路） (In the southeast of Yibin City, within Xingwen County, near the junction of Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou provinces), ☏ +86 831 8622078. 08:30-17:30. Xingwen World Geopark, located in southwestern China, features karst landforms and is one of the earliest areas in China where sinkholes were studied. Covering 156 square kilometers, the park boasts numerous caves, canyons, waterfalls, lakes, ancient stone forests, and relics of the ancient Bo people. ¥80.

[edit]Chinese mandarin in Pingshan Mountain, You can buy it at many fruit shops on the street. Yibin Pingshan County is located along the Jinsha River, which is rich in thermal resources and climatic properties of the sub-African zone, resulting in excellent quality of Pingshan citrus. 1KG ¥9.

Lizhuang White Meat (李庄白肉), Lizhuang Ancient Town, Cuiping District. ☏ +86 831-5412345.10:00 AM - 9:00 PM.Lizhuang white meat is a famous traditional dish in Yibin. It uses fat but not greasy pork, sliced as thin as paper, and eaten with garlic and red oil. It tastes fresh and refreshing.
Zhongdukou Noodle King（中渡口面王）
Located at the intersection of the western section of Changjiang Avenue and Guxu Road in Xuzhou District, Yibin City, 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM. This is a popular local restaurant with generous portions, a strong spicy flavor, and a particularly fragrant topping. It's a small restaurant, but it's very popular. 10–15 RMB per person.
He Sanbai meat（何三白肉）
Located at No. 11 Shunhe Street, Lizhuang Ancient Town Scenic Area, Cuiping District, Yibin City. Open from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM.The thinly sliced and evenly sliced meat, served with a garlic chili oil dipping sauce, is rich but not greasy, making it a must-try in Lizhuang Ancient Town. A small portion is approximately RMB 48, and a large portion is approximately RMB 68.

[edit]Yibin is home to the famous Wu Liang Ye distillery. No visit would be complete without a shot or two of their fiery baijiu
Yibin Beer (宜宾啤酒) – A lighter, more refreshing option compared to baijiu, produced locally and widely available in restaurants and street stalls.
Rice Wine (黄酒/糯米酒) – In smaller eateries or family-run establishments, you may come across homemade rice wine. It is sweeter, lower in alcohol, and often served warm.
