Yuseong-gu (유성구, 儒城區) is the largest district in Daejeon. Yuseong-gu is best known as the place of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), one of the country's top research universities, and the Yuseong Hot Springs Resort, a historic spa area popular with both locals and tourists.

Yuseong-gu is one of the five districts of Daejeon and serves as the city’s main hub for science and research. The district is largest district in Daejeon, with 2nd most populated district. It is home to KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) and several other research institutes clustered in the Daedeok Innopolis area, which has been called the “Korean Silicon Valley.”

Apart from its modern reputation, Yuseong has long been known for its natural hot springs. The Yuseong Hot Springs has selected as national special tourist zone on 1993, and the area still attracts visitors seeking relaxation in public spas and resorts.

The district combines a youthful university-town atmosphere with traditional Korean spa culture, offering travelers both a modern and historic side of Daejeon in one place.

Yuseong-gu is easily accessible from central Daejeon and other parts of Korea. Most visitors arrive through Daejeon station and then transfer to the local subway or bus network.

By train

The nearest KTX stop is Daejeon Station, located in the city center. From there, take Daejeon Subway Line 1 westbound to reach Yuseong-gu (about 25 minutes to Yuseong Spa Station).

It serves the bullet train between Seoul and Busan. The bullet train takes you to Seoul in around 50 min from Daejeon. It is operated by the Korea National Railroad  

By bus

Long-distance express buses arrive at the Daejeon Government Complex Bus Terminal or Daejeon Express Bus Terminal. From either terminal, the subway Line 1 connects directly to Yuseong-gu.

By air

The nearest airport is Cheongju International Airport (CJJ), about 50 km north of Daejeon. Limousine buses and trains link the airport to the city. Incheon International Airport is also reachable within 2 hours by KTX or intercity bus(the ride takes 3 hr 15 min).
