    Yuzhou is located in the central part of Henan Province, China, in the heart of the Central Plains. It is a city with a long history and profound culture. Yuzhou is named after the legend of Dayu's flood control and is known as one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization. As one of the core areas of ancient Xia culture, it has left behind rich historical relics and cultural heritage.

    Yuzhou has a civilization history of more than 4,000 years and a county history of more than 2,200 years. Since the Xia and Shang dynasties, it has been one of the important political, economic and cultural centers in the Central Plains. Especially during the Sui and Tang dynasties, Yuzhou was famous for producing world-famous Jun porcelain. Jun porcelain has become a royal treasure with its kiln-changed glaze and unique craftsmanship, and is known as the "national treasure".

    Yuzhou, located in Henan Province, is one of the cradles of Chinese civilization, renowned for the legend of Yu the Great controlling floods. It is said that Yu worked here to tame the waters, and the city was named in his honor, symbolizing ancient China's water management culture.

    Since the Xia, Shang, and Zhou Dynasties, Yuzhou has been a central region of Chinese civilization, leaving a legacy of Shang Dynasty bronze culture and Zhou Dynasty rituals and music. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Yuzhou became famous for its Jun porcelain, known for its stunning glazes and unique kiln transformations, earning the title "national treasure."

    Yuzhou experiences a temperate continental monsoon climate, characterized by distinct seasons. Summers are hot and humid, with temperatures often reaching above 30°C (86°F), while winters are cold and dry, with temperatures sometimes dropping below freezing. Spring and autumn are short and typically pleasant, with mild temperatures and lower humidity.

    Rainfall is concentrated in the summer months, particularly from June to August, which can lead to occasional heavy showers or thunderstorms. The best time to visit Yuzhou is during spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) when the weather is most comfortable for outdoor activities and sightseeing.

    Yuzhou is connected to China's high-speed rail network. Trains from Zhengzhou usually take about 30 to 40 minutes to reach Yuzhou, though one train takes about 70 minutes. If you're coming from Xuchang, you will need to change trains in Zhengzhou, as there are no direct trains from Xuchang to Yuzhou.

    Fly to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport. From there, take a high-speed train (Zhengzhou East Station to Xuchang East Station) or a taxi/bus, approximately 1.5 hours to reach Yuzhou.

    Taxis, small minibuses, three wheeled carts and tuk tuks are cheap and abundant. The old city center, the area within the old city moat, is very walkable and full of interesting alleys and small streets.

There are trails, viewing platforms and children's play areas in the park, which are suitable for family outings.     • 10 King Yu Locks Jiao Well (禹王锁蛟井), 50 meters northeast of the intersection of Bashifang Street and Xidajie in the ancient city of Xiqu District (by car). Open all day. The King Yu Locking Dragon Well is one of the famous historical sites in Yuzhou, and is closely related to the legend of Dayu's flood control. It is said that Dayu used his divine power to lock the dragon here to protect the local people from floods, so this ancient well has become a symbolic symbol.     There are no Western or International restaurants in Yuzhou, fast food or otherwise, with the closest being Dico's. The locals don't even eat steamed rice, so expect to eat plenty of noodles for every meal, although there is a hot pot street, plenty of street food, and many Muslim restaurants run by the Hui minority, selling well-known dishes such as Da Pan Ji 大盘鸡 with a local twist. Popular dishes at small restaurants include Mi Pir 米皮儿 (cold/lukewarm rice noodles served with some shredded cucumber, sesame paste and hot pepper paste, delicious and much better than it sounds), 豆面 (noodles made from mung beans, served in a thick soup with vegetables), and 烩面 (the local version of hand-pulled noodles served with meat and vegetables).

    • 1 Old Street Chicken Fillet (老街鸡排), About 260 meters southeast from the intersection of Jundu South Road and Wenbo Road (by car). 11:00-14:30,17:00-20:30. This snack bar is famous for its stewed pork and tofu pudding. The stewed pork has a chewy texture and tastes very good with garlic sauce and chili; the tofu pudding is smooth and tender, and the seasoning makes it very memorable.
