Understand
[edit]Zhucheng is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of the prefecture-level city of Weifang but lies approximately 100 km from downtown Weifang, at the junction of the Taiyi Mountains and the Jiaowei Plain in the southeastern part of Shandong.
The city is named after Zhufeng Village, a village in the north of the city where legend says Emperor Shun was born. The city is famous for the discovery of Zhuchengtyrannus magnus, Asia’s largest tyrannosaur species. It is also known as ‘Dinosaur City’, one of several cities in China to be given that title (two other such cities are Lufeng and Zigong).
As of 2023, the resident population of Zhucheng was around 1 million people.
