Alpbach is a ski resort village in Northeast Tyrol. Alpbach has three valley stations that lead into the large ski area with 109 km of slopes. It is known for its unique wooden construction style. Instead of large hotel buildings, you will still find authentic wooden houses.

Inntal motorway A12 (toll), Kramsach exit. Alternatively, you can come from Munich toll-free via the Tegernsee/Achenseepass.

By train

You can travel to Jenbach or Wörgl by express train (ICE, IC, EC) (both stations are 10 km from the Alpbachtal).

By plane

Get around

The village itself is small enough to be walkable, although there are some fairly steep hills.

Buses connect the villages in the local area, and are free with an Alpbachtal Card.

Congress Centrum Alpbach
  • Alpbach has many beautiful wooden houses defined by the classic features of the alpine architectural style. In all houses in Alpbach, only the ground floor may be made of masonry, from the first floor onwards, all houses are made of wood. Each house is unique because every generation has expanded its farm to meet its special requirements.
  • In contrast, the Alpbach Congress Centre is a striking example of futuristic architecture, with its glass spiral built into the mountain slope.
  • The parish church, dedicated to Saint Oswald, is first documented in 1369. The current building dates back to the 1700s.
  • The grave of Erwin Schrödinger, 1933 Nobel laureate in Physics, is in the churchyard.

  • In winter, there are well-tended cross-country ski trails in Inneralpbach, and a toboggan run to the Faulbaumgartenalm in Inneralpbach.

  • Alpbachtal ski area. 54 km of slopes: 15 km easy, 34 km medium, 5 km difficult 3 gondola lifts, 5 chair lifts, 11 drag lifts
  • Wiedersbergerhorn. With 8-seater gondola from Inneralpbach + 6-seater gondola from Alpbach
  • Reitherkogel. With 8-seater gondola family jet from Reith im Alpbachtal

  • Wiedersbergerhornbahn Alpbach. With the Wiedersbergerhornbahn you can comfortably reach the wonderful alpine and hiking area around the Wiedersbergerhorn at 1,850 m.
  • Reitherkogelbahn Alpbachtal. In Reith i. A. The 8-seater "Familien-Jet" gondola takes you to the popular Reither Kogel family mountain in 5 minutes. A wonderful hiking area with a fantastic view of the Alpbachtal, Zillertal and Inntal.
  • Sonnwendjochbahn - Kramsacher Bergbahn. The Tyrolean Rosengarten offers hiking or mountaineering with varying degrees of difficulty.

Bathing lakes in the Alpbachtal

  • Reintaler See, +43 664 5947049. The largest of the Kramsach lakes and, like the Krummsee, is one of the warmest bathing lakes in Tyrol with temperatures of up to 25 °C. Well-tended sunbathing lawns, restaurants, buffets, a children's playground, boat rental and camping sites ensure a great water experience. Lake information on: Tel.
  • Krummsee. Also one of the warmest bathing lakes in Tyrol however, bathing is closed until further notice.
  • The "Blue Eye Reith", as the Reither See is also called, is located in the center of Reith im Alpbachtal and is an excellent place to refresh yourself after mountain bike tours, hikes or walks. Large lawn for sunbathing, children's play area, paddling pool, fishing, diving board, changing rooms, and buffet are also there.

Gorges

  • Kaiserklamm. Starting point: Brandenberg, Aschau Kaiserhaus Gorge walking times: approx. ½ hour 1 km Archduke-Johann-Klause: approx. 1½ hours (from the end of the gorge) another 6.5 km
  • Tiefenbachklamm. Starting point: Either Kramsach Aschauer Straße or Brandenberg (in the center opposite the guest house Ascherwirt along the street to the playground, then right to the first junction on the left down to the Ache, Tiefenbachklamm snack bar). Walking time: approx. 1½ hours approx. 4.5 km
  • Kundler Klamm. Starting point Kundl Klamm parking lot. Walking time: Gorge route: approx. 1 hour 3 km. Hiking trail to Mühltal: another approx. 1 hour 3 km
