    Alto Alentejo is the northern half of the Alentejo region of Portugal.

    • 1 Alandroal — a municipality that includes Terena, a beautiful village with an imposing castle
    • 2 Arraiolos — famous for its castle and its embroidered wool rugs and carpets
    • 3 Avis — historical home of the Knights of the Order of Aviz, with a castle
    • 4 Campo Maior – border town with a castle and a bone chapel
    • 5 Castelo de Vide — a romantic village with beautiful gardens, an abundance of vegetation, a mild climate, known as "Sintra do Alentejo"
    • 6 Elvas — a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its excellent star fort
    • 7 Estremoz — known for its fine to medium marble that occurs in several colours that has been used to build the town
    • 8 Évora — a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a well-preserved old town centre, still partially enclosed by medieval walls, and many monuments including a Roman Temple
    • 9 Monforte — farming with a castle and a Roman bridge
    • 10 Marvão — a mountain village perched on the Serra de São Mamede
    • 11 Nisa – municipality that's home to several castles
    • 12 Portalegre – cathedral city noted for its tapestries
    • 13 Redondo — town with a castle and a wine museum
    • 14 Reguengos de Monsaraz — one of the oldest Portuguese settlements of southern Portugal, with hundreds of megalithic monuments
    • 15 Vendas Novas — is famous for its bifanas (thinly sliced pork either fried and served on a soft roll with mustard), considered the best bifanas in Portugal
    • 16 Vila Viçosa — a historic, monumental town with a historic palace
