Anyang (안양, 安養) is a city in the southern part of Gyeonggi Province, and one of the satellite cities of Seoul. It serves as the central hub of the Anyang region, which also includes Gunpo and Uiwang. Once known as a major industrial city, it has since shifted toward a knowledge- and service-based economy.

[edit]Anyang is bordered by Uiwang to the east, Gwangmyeong, Siheung, and Ansan to the west, Gunpo to the south, and Seoul’s Geumcheon and Gwanak districts as well as Gwacheon to the north.
The Pyeongchon New Town area is famous for its strong emphasis on education. It has the highest concentration of private academies in Gyeonggi Province, and local schools consistently achieve high admission rates to prestigious special-purpose high schools nationwide.
Climate
[edit]Anyang's climate is similar to that of nearby Seoul and Suwon. It has a distinct humid continental climate, characterized by four clear seasons. The city is relatively hotter and colder than coastal areas, showing a significant temperature difference between summer and winter. Summers are hot and humid, with the highest temperatures typically occurring in August. Winters are cold and dry, with the coldest temperatures in January. The city experiences a notable monsoon season from June to September, when most of the annual rainfall is concentrated. According to data from the Korea Meteorological Administration, Anyang receives an average of about 1,198 mm of precipitation annually. The city has well-equipped drainage facilities, so there is typically no major flood damage. Although it's not a coastal city, the summer humidity can be high, often exceeding 90% even on days without rain. During the night, it can even reach 100%. Overall, the climate is quite pleasant, with warm, temperate springs and autumns.

Ansan is served by seven subway stations. Four stations are in Line 1, listed from the closest to Seoul: Seoksu, Gwanak, Anyang, Myeonghak. Three stations are in Line 4, listed from the closest to Seoul: Indeokwon, Pyeongchon, Beomgye.
- 1 Indeokwon. It is close to Uiwang-si, and there is also a bus connected to Seongnam-si at Exit 2. It is named Indeok, meaning a place to give virtue to others, and has been called Indeokwon since the "Won" was installed to provide accommodation for public travelers.
- 2 Pyeongchon. The sub - name is Hallym University Sungsim Hospital, and Hallym University Sungsim Hospital is nearby. It is connected to E-Mart's Pyeongchon branch.
- 3 Bumgye. Beomgye Station is connected to Lotte Department Store Pyeongchon Branch and New Core Outlet Pyeongchon Branch. It is an underground section from this station to Isu Station.
- 4 Seoksu. A new line, the 'Shinansan Line' is being built. When opened, the station will be the southernmost station in Seoul, and express services will also stop.
- 5 Gwanak. The station name is taken from nearby Gwanaksan Mountain and is far from Gwanak-gu in Seoul. Anyang Art Park is located nearby.
- 6 Anyang. 'Mugunghwa' train and all trains on metropolitan subway line 1 stop. Nearby are Anyang University, Anyang 1st Street, and E-Mart Anyang branch.
- 7 Myonghak. The sub - name is Sungkyul University, which is located nearby.
