Călimăneşti (also known as Călimăneşti-Căciulata) is a spa town in Oltenia.

Located in a beautiful mountainous area between Sibiu and Râmnicu Vâlcea, Călimăneşti is a small resort known for its mineral springs.

[edit]Călimăneşti is along a major bus route: hourly buses reach it from Râmnicu Vâlcea (a 20-30 minutes trip), 8-9 buses from Sibiu (1½ hours away), 7-8 buses from Cluj (5 hours away) and at least six direct buses from Bucharest (a 3½-hours trip).
By train
[edit]There are trains from Rămnicu Vălcea approximately every two hours (travel times between 15 and 45 minutes), 4-5 times per day from Sibiu (2-2½ hours travel time), two trains from Bucharest (4½-5 hours) and one from Craiova (2¼ hours).
Get around
[edit]Călimăneşti is walkable, but to get to the northern suburb Căciulata it's advisable to take one of the above mentioned buses or the train (get off at Păuşa station).

[edit]- 1 Arutela Roman Fort. Arutela was a Roman fort in the Roman province of Dacia constructed between 137 – 138 BCE. It lies on the left bank of the Olt River. It was part of the Roman frontier system of the Limes Alutanus.
- 2 Mânăstirea Cozia (Cozia monastery) (at the northern end of the resort on the road to Sibiu). An impressive 13th-century monastery.
