[edit]Cabugao was founded by the Spanish in 1781 and was named after a local chieftain. Its chief mainstays are agriculture, tourism and the Salomague port, a major maritime transportation hub in Ilocos Sur.

[edit]Cabugao is along Route 2 (Manila North Road). Buses also ply this highway, with some bus companies operating limited direct services from Metro Manila.

- 2 Pug-os Beach, Pug-os. A white-sand cove that is also used as a production center for sea salt.
- 3 Poro Island (Salomague Island) (rent a boat at Sabang Pier). A secluded, uninhabited island with white sand beaches.
- 4 Sabang Coral Baywalk, Sabang. A seaside promenade facing Poro Island.
- 5 Rebba Falls, Cacadiran. A set of rapids at the point where the Cabugao River exits the Cordillera Mountains into the coastal plain.
