Cachi is in Salta (province).
Understand
[edit]There is a tourist information office in the main square.
Get in
[edit]Every voyager knows that getting there is half the fun. There are three roads into Cachi and they are all exciting.
The road from San Antonio traverses isolated country and is only accessible by 2WD some months of the year.
The easiest access is from Salta. The road is bitumen but can still be closed by floods or rockfall after rain. It takes about 4 hours. Buses leave from Salta a couple of times a day. There are a number of companies in Salta that offer tours to Cachi and return in the day but they amount to little more than touch and go landings before turning around to Salta.
The road from Cafayate is a dirt road but usually passable by 2WD. It's about a four hour drive. There are some local buses but no through buses (see the Salta Go Next heading and Cafayate page for more details).
