    Calafat is a city in , Oltenia, southwestern Romania.

    Calafat is a major crossing point between Romania and Bulgaria. The New Europe Bridge opened in 2013 between Calafat and Vidin (in Bulgaria) across the Danube River.

    There are four slow (the 107 km trip takes three - three and half hours) Personal type trains daily from Craiova.

    By bus

    There are frequent buses from Craiova; travel time is around two hours. There is a bus that goes to Calafat from Vidin and Craiova.

    The ferry to/from Vidin used to run several times per day.

    Via DN55A, from Bucharest, Alexandria, Turnu Măgurele, Corabia.
