    Carcoar is small historic town of 270 (2021) in the Central West region of New South Wales. It's often said to be "lost to time" as many of the 19th-century buildings still dominate the town's architecture. It's also the state's third oldest settlement west of the Great Dividing Range.

    Carcoar sits along the Mid Western Highway (A41) on the section between Bathurst and Cowra. There is only 1 (sealed) turnoff into the town proper at Icely Street as the highway is grade separated for the rest of its length in Carcoar. From Blayney, head southwest for 14 km (8.7 mi) (about 10 min) and 52 km (32 mi) from Bathurst (around 40 min). From Cowra, head northeast for 54 km (34 mi) (around 35 min) and 12 km (7.5 mi) from Lyndhurst.

    • 1 Carcoar Dam, Carcoar Dam Rd.
    • 2 Carcoar Hospital Museum, 7 Eulamore St, +61 2 6367 3172, . The remnants of what was once an early colonial hotel, which opened in 1861. Today, the museum houses many historic medical items.
    • 3 Carcoar Railway Station, Station St. A railway station that sits on the now-disused Blayney–Demondrille Railway Line. Passenger services ceased along the line in 1974, while a burnt bridge, declining freight volumes and flooding progressively also closed the line down for freight in 2012.     • 4 Carcoar School of Arts, 5 Icely St, +61 2 6367 3125. The former town school of arts which opened in 1901. Today it serves as a community centre with the Carmenhurst Military Museum.     • 5 Stoke Stable Museum, 8 Stoke La. Daily 10AM–4PM. What is now the result of convict labour now stands as a general town museum. The building opened in 1864.
    • 6 Twentieth Century Toy Museum (Carcoar Toy Museum), 5 Belubula St, +61 2 6367 3274. W–Su 11AM–5PM (during spring and autumn holiday season only). Houses around 2000 different toys and collectables from the 20th century. There is also a gift shop available where you can purchase a small range of collectables.
